Looking at the watch on his wrist, he had to nod. It was ten past closing time and everything was well on its way to being cleaned up again for the night. He watched his employees leave after checking any bags they had brought in for their shift. He still thought that someone was stealing from him and he was going to find them. All of his workers had not seen him angry, and it took a lot to make him angry, unless they hit his pet peeves. Tonight was also the night when Romano was supposed to come with some of his special request items.
As he watched the last person leave, he locked the front door and headed to the back. He hoped that Romano actually came this time, he had customers waiting for the items and they wouldn't wait much longer. He had already missed two delivery dates and there was no coded messaged passed as to why, he had to wonder if Romano had gotten caught or if he had just decided to be a tick on a camel and annoy him constantly. With a sigh, he went to the secret door in the back of the club near his office and waited for some sign that Romano would be there soon at the time they had agreed on. If he didn't make it this time, he was going to cut the payment amount for the next delivery. He already thought that Romano charged an arm and a leg, but he was usually worth it for his skill...not that he would ever tell him a boost his ego. He already had a big enough one as it was, and he didn't want to be the cause of it getting bigger. Looking at his watch again, he sighed and rolled his eyes. Two minutes till Romano would be late.

With a quiet groan, Lovino shoved his fists into the pockets of his pants and glaring at any passerbys who would dare think about glancing at him for longer than the cursory few milliseconds. Yes, he knew that his clothes were much higher quality than most of the others, with pressed brown slacks and an Egyptian cotton button-up shaded forest green, but that didn't give anyone the right to stare! Though, they might be staring because the brunette wasn't looking the best health-wise. He had some shadows under his eyes, and his skin was a bit pale under his tan, but it was nothing serious and certainly not something he was going to admit. So he continued on, definitely well-dressed enough to mingle with the other club-goers but obviously in dark enough colors to blend well with the shadows as the lights in the area were shut off, one by one. He paused for a moment, focusing hard on his hearing and feeling soundss slowly beginning to magnify. Snippets of conversation became as clear as if he were in the midst of the group, the clicks of shoes sounded more like slamming doors, and after a few minutes he could even hear bugs scrambling around under the concrete, burrowing further into ruined dirt in search of food and nutrients. After thorougly searching the area, nothing suspicious caught his attention so he exhaled slowly, allowing the sounds to fade back to a more manageable level. Unfortunately he could feel a bit of a headache now and he cursed, glancing at his watch and continuing on towards his destination. He was going to be late at this rate, and he was never late. Either he showed up exactly on time for jobs like this, or he didn't show up at all. That's how it always worked, and he refused to ruin his puntuality record like that.
Ducking into an alley between two relatively well-known clubs, both still going despite the late hour, Lovino immediately had to cover his nose, like usual, to get past all the stenches of vomit, booze, and old sex. He hated walking this area, no matter how much he complained to the governmental officials that came by it was never as thoroughly cleaned as it should be to make the smells go away, but regardless of that it was the quickest, most secretive way to get to the popular Turkish club on the other side of the Entertainment District. Plus the narrow passages were well-known hook-up spots, so even if he was caught meandering about back here he could always lie and say he was trying to find someone willing for a quick round. (He alternately snickered and shuddered at the idea of having to do that with Adnan in order to escape detection from the damned Government) Since that idea wasn't actually prostitution, but rather just drunk, horny people wanting fast, dirty sex with no strings attached, the police and other officials couldn't do anything but send him home with warnings of STDs and shit like that. As if he didn't know that already!
Lovino glanced at his watch again and swore, he had less than a minute to make it to Adnan's place before he was late. Upping the pace to a full on sprint, the Italian expertly raced through the alleys, concentrating very hard on not taking in any of the scents here. Other than a few incidents of running into naive brats trying to get it on or nearly stepping into alternating piles of shit, vomit, alcohol, or some combination of the two he made good time. The alarm on his watch began to softly chime just as he pounded his fist on the door, bent over with one hand on his knee as he gasped for air. "O-Oi!" He hissed, knocking again. "Open the damn door, Adnan!" He swore to God that if the Turkish bastard has left already, after all the lack of trouble he took to get here, Lovino was never working with him again.

Looking at his watch, he watched as the minute hand moved to the twelve and the hour hand moved over the three, it was the time that Romano was supposed to be there. The club really needed a good cleaning…perhaps he should close the club for one day and really scrub the place down, cleaned it to the point where everything sparkled without the special effect lights hitting it. He could see how grimy some of the areas were and the lights were mostly off. With a sigh, he continued to look around and tried to look at it without an objective opinion. It looked horrible to him, he really would have to scrub it all down…maybe get some of his employees to help him if he wanted to get it done in one day. He sighed, that was neither here nor there and had nothing to do with the current situation. He had more importing things to think of right now besides cleaning, like waiting for Romano and the potential thief. He had no idea who it could be. He only hired people he trusted…well, trusted enough not to screw him over without a good reason to. He showed them trust and respect and, to his way of thinking, that deserved trust and respect in return. That was one way to earn his ire was to disrespect him after receiving respect. Hearing a knock on the door, he looked at his watch, surprised when it said that only a minute or so had past. Opening the door, he looked Romano over and made a face. “Glad to see your hear Romano, I was starting to worry you wouldn’t show up again…and you look like shit, haven’t been getting enough sleep have you?"

"About fuckin' time!" Lovino snapped, glaring up at the older man before brushing past him to enter the club. He glanced around the place, smell beginning to kick in again and he grimaced, having to lift his hand back over his mouth and nose as he squinted. "Gesù Cristo! Don't you ever fucking clean this damn place?!" He could smell different layers of sweat, spit, and other bodily fluids and while it wasn't bad enough to really warrant such a harsh reaction it was still a powerful wave of different scents and it nearly made him throw up as his vision wavered. After a moment or two though he managed to get himself back under control, but it was enough of a sign of weakness to just spur his ire to more irritable levels. He swallowed and aimed a poison-green glare at Adnan, as if it had been his fault. "Vaffanculo! I'm here now, that's what matters! And I've been sleeping fine!" He had actually been overwhelmed while on a mission a few weeks ago, with still-nameless Government officials startling him with a flash-grenade and sending him into a faint that had lasted for over a week. If it hadn't been for a nice old woman and her son that lived on his street, Lovino was positive he would've been caught and thrown in prison or whatever happened to someone in his profession. Shaking his head to scare off the last few dredges of dizziness, the pissy twenty-three year old stared up at the tall Turk, irritation clear in the way his jaw was clenched, brown, perfectly trimmed eyebrows furrowed down in a sharp V, and his left eye twitched just slightly every other moment. "Look, are we getting to business or not?" He demanded, arms crossed over his chest as he tapped one thick-soled, sturdy dress-shoe against the floor. He was irritated from letting his powers get the best of him twice already that night, he'd run out of his trusty cigarettes and he was desperately craving one, and he was in the end a few seconds late for their meeting, not to mention the last two. It wasn't anything personal at this point, though he thought he was being rather kind considering all that he felt was wrong with the world right now. He wanted to get this meeting over with so he could find some sort of stress-relief before going to bed.

Turkey rolled his eyes as Romano forced his way past him and cussed at him in the process. Romano had to be alright if he was still cussing. He was used to Romano cussing so it didn’t faze him anymore, it was just who he was…and he had no room to talk, he cussed too, just not as much as Romano. Hearing Romano talk about the place needed cleaned and covering his mouth and nose, he took a sniff and shrugged. It smelled a little like sweat, but not that bad. “I was going clean it this coming week, not that it’s any of your business, I don’t pay you for cleaning advice, nor tell you how to run your business.” He looked him over again and shrugged. It’s not like he cared for his sake, he just asked because Romano was one of the best there was and if he wasn’t feeling well, he didn’t want to push him over the edge. As much as he hated it, he needed Romano’s skills in order to acquire a few of the items he had come to need for his club and the higher paying clients.
With another shrug at Romano’s outburst, he started walking over to his office again. “You want to talk business, follow me, we’ll talk business.” He said down in his office chair and pulled filled out of a locked drawer. He handed them over to Romano. After they talked about this, he had another job opportunity for him, if he wanted to take it.

"It is too my fuckin' business!" Lovino argued, trotting after Adnan while tucking his hand back into his pants pocket. He still had a slight grimace on his face, and he tried to ignore the smells still wafting through the air. "I have to come here for work too, and even if you don't pay me to clean you do pay me for illegal shit that's dangerous to get. The least you can do is keep the place clean enough to not bother your workers, especially when I risk my neck for you!" He thought his logic was quite sound, ignoring the fact that they both knew that if Lovino went down, more than likely all of his partners in crime would go down with him. That's why the Italian took special care to not get caught, some people he sold to on the side were working to make life better for people, not like the damn Resistance like Adnan who want to just fuck with the order of things and impliment their own crazy rule, but doctors and scientists who needed illegal samples for illegal experiments and he didn't want to get them into trouble when they paid him well more than the Resistance could afford to.
When the two reached the office Lovino made himself quite at home, plopping down into the admittedly comfortable chair opposite the other's desk and stretching his arms over his head until bones cracked and popped. He groaned a bit at that before shaking out his limbs, just in time to accept the files passed over to him. "Is this the same as usual, or do you need more than my average deliveries?" The brunette asked, for once sounding a bit more serious in a professional sense as he flipped through the first file. " And before you ask, I'll be back tomorrow, usual time, with your natural ingredients so you don't have to pay me for those until you inspect the products." As a gourmet, Lovino despised the fact that a lot of the higher-end ingredients he adored were constantly rationed since the Government wanted to be selfish and keep things to themselves while heavily taxing the people for them. Because of this he always pilfered what foodstuffs he could while on a job, and sold what he didn't use to people like Adnan. He also refused payment until he knew that the 'customer' was pleased with what he had, otherwise he was more likely to piss someone off on accident and he wasn't the kind of businessman to be patient with pissy buyers. He crossed his legs at the ankles and lounged, continuing to flip through each file but concentrating a little extra on his sound so that he could catch anything the Turk might say in response.

“Don’t get your balls in a bunch Romano, It’ll be cleaned by this time next week.” He was going to make sure it was clean enough to eat off of and he made a metal note to impress it upon his workers how vital it was to keep the place clean and not take shortcuts as they were doing. While he might not be a neat freak, he did enjoy a clean establishment. At least he kept his own office clean. He was the only one to clean it and no one else would ever step foot in it when he wasn’t there. He didn’t anyone else to mind their own business and not try to break into his drawers and files. He had blackmail material on all of his workers, but he wouldn’t use it unless it was truly necessary.
“Now that is a good question, thank you for bringing it up. I’ll actually need a bit more. And that leads to my next question. You missed the last delivery date, how would you like a change to earn that missed money. I have a different type of job I think you would be perfect for. Would you be interested in hearing it out, or would you rather just stick with the deliveries?” He cocked an eyebrow. He knew he was pushing it talking to Romano like that, but he needed this problem taken care of, and as much as he hated to admit it, he actually needed Romano’s help as this thief was beyond his ability to catch.

"It'd better be or I'm charging you extra," Lovino replied flippantly, not even looking up from the files as he spoke. He just half-wondered how Adnan could ever expect his lazy-ass workers to clean as well as they should, most of them were younger than the Italian and about a third as dedicated to their jobs. "You know how sensitive my senses get, if I end up coming in here and passing out from how fuckin' sick it smells we'd both be in deep shit." Though there were never any complaints he had about the Turk's office, and why he had originally insisted on doing business there despite the very apparent distrust the other had for him. It smelled slightly of smoke and other less intrusive scents, and it was always quiet so he had no problems here.
When Adnan answered with a positive answer to his question, Lovino shook his head and sighed, looking faintly exasperated as he set the folders down onto his lap and sat up. "How much is 'a bit more'? I need specifics, you're my primary buyer but I do have others that I need to keep up with." With that said he reached up and began unbuttoning his shirt, swiftly shrugging off the very expensive Egyptian cotton and revealing a thin, durable but near skintight vest. He began fiddling with spots of the surface and revealed pockets as he pulled out many different vials, with alternatingly colored tops. But then he paused, hearing the rest of the brunette's words. He tilted his head up to stare at Adnan, frowning as a suspicious look came to his eyes. "What kind of job?" He asked, immediately slipping his contraband back into his vest and pulling his shirt back on. Deliveries and payment once he'd heard the assignment and decided if he wanted it or not. He didn't sneer or look particularly smug about the older man needing his help, simply curious and a bit suspicious, since he was never asked to do any job but smuggles and deliveries before.

“Don’t worry you’re pretty little head over it, I’m closing the club down one night this week and I’m cleaning it top to bottom myself.” He wished he had some workers dedicated to cleaning, perhaps he should hire a few. He let that thought bubble in his mind for a few, but then dismissed it. He just needed to stick to his original plan and make sure they realized their job was on the line if they didn’t keep up with all their responsibilities. “Evet, I know, that’s why I allow meetings in here and not somewhere else. There is no need to take any extra risks that we don’t need.” His workers often made fun of him for keeping his office as clean as he did, but it was needed. He liked his office clean and it made him able to do business with Romano that much easier. Besides, cleaning it twice a week himself gave him plenty of chances to check for bugs and the like that someone might have planted in his office.
“The specific amount is half a vial of the purple one more than usual. I realize that may be hard as that is the more expensive one, but both of our butts are on the line. The client was very angry that I couldn’t give him his full supply last time and threatened to turn me unless I made up for it. The next delivery would be fine and I’ll pay you the required amount for it.” He kept still but he was nervous about this one this one, he didn’t have any blackmail material on this client and it disturbed him greatly when he didn’t have dirt on everyone one he dealt with. Clearing his throat, he spoke again. “The other job I have for you is to help me find a thief in my club. One of my workers here is stealing from me and jeopardizing us both. I believe they are the one that stole the vial. I’ve tried everything I could think of to find them myself, but it hasn’t worked. That’s where you come in. You find this guy for me, and I’ll pay you for the delivery you missed.” He leaned back in his chair and tented his hands in front of him. “Well, will you take the job, or do I have to contract out to someone else?”

After a few moments, Lovino tilted his head to one side and pinned a flat, disbelieving stare on the older brunette, eyebrow raised skeptically. "...That's fuckin' impossible, Adnan, even for you," he deadpanned. "The place is too big to clean by yourself in a single night. Are your workers really so shitty that they can't even do their jobs without you having to wipe their asses for them too? Fucking lazy kids..." The Italian looked vaguely disgusted at that, though it was more towards the apparent lack of 'moral integrity' of kids his age and younger. Most were too stupid and brainwashed to even care how stupid and brainwashed and lame they were. He had also caught a glimpse of the dancefloor when Adnan led him to the back office and there was grime everywhere. Once Adnan realized how bad it was he wouldn't stop cleaning until everything glowed in the dark, and that would take days with a space that size. But after a moment of indulging in his irritation and disappointment at his generation the Italian sighed and relaxed a bit, splaying his fingers over his cheek and lips as he rested his head in his hand. "It's also because you're a paranoid bastard and it's the safest place in this part of the city." To most the idea of being paranoid was an insult, but to Lovino it was good personality quirk to have, and he was stating what he thought was a straight-up fact about the Turk's office being a safe place to hide, despite his Resistance ways.
But then any chance of civil talk died when Adnan sprung that little tidbit on him. Had he had something in his mouth he probably would have choked on it. "C-Che diavolo?! Another vial of this?!" Hands scrambled to find the right pocket in his bulletproof vest and after a few moments pulled out a test-tube filled with a faint lavender liquid. The cap was dark purple and sealed with flexible but durable black tape, just in case. "Are your clients fuckin' mental?! This is the strongest tranquilizer in il cazzo città! I've seen a vial this size take out three overwhelmed Supers and leave them unconscious for over a week! The fuck does he need four of them for?!" He had a few stashed about his home in case of emergencies like this, but the fact that he'd have to give up a whole vial was absolutely mental. With a vicious scowl he pulled three more vials out and wrapped them up in a pouch before setting the bundle down on the desk. "You tell that fucking freak of a client that that's the last I have for a while, the next large shipping of that batch of tranq isn't for a few weeks." Shaking his head, Lovino forced himself to settle down, though now he was bouncing his right leg in agitation. "....Wait..." Raging emerald eyes shot metaphorical daggers into chocolate brown as he grimaced. "You mean there's someone here stealing my stolen goods?! The fuck!!" He shot to his feet, slamming his hands down on the desk as he fumed. "Fuck yes I'm taking this job! No one steals my shit, even when it's not technically mine anymore! Arrogant son of a bitch thinks he can get one-up on me?! Fuck that shit, I'm the best at this job for a fucking reason! What's this bidonista stealing and when did you notice stuff was going missing?!"

He just shrugged at Romano’s disbelief, he had ways, and if he ended up having to close for more than one day, so be it. “Even if I can’t do it in one night, it will be done. If I have to call everyone in and breathe down their necks to get it done right, that’s what I will do. They will be impressed on the importance of keeping this place clean even if I have to scare them to do it. I can’t afford to let the club get this dirty again, I don’t need to give the government a chance to come in and close it down.” He wouldn’t let his club, his pride go down because of a bunch of kids who thought they knew better than him when it came to business. Plus he had a way to clean it that no one would believe if he told them. He had to laugh at what Romano had said, it was very true, but still funny. “Paranoid bastard who’s alive a lot longer than people thought he would be. Being paranoid kept me alive in my gang days and being paranoid now is keeping me as protected as I can get.
He shrugged. “I don’t ask what he wants them for, and honestly, I don’t care. What I don’t know I can’t get pinned for. I’ll make sure to tell him he’ll have to wait. I made up a reason that he bought, but he’s forgetting who he’s dealing with. I’m going to impress upon him that this after this delivery he needs to find his stuff somewhere else. I’m not going to deal with threats and he won’t dare sell me out. I’m going to make it very clear what will happen to him if I even hear one peep of him thinking about turning me over to the government, and it won’t be pretty.” He had things that made him mad, and while the list was small, he couldn’t stand people telling him what to do. Honestly, he wanted to stick a knife in his clients back, but while they were still connected through business he couldn’t. Hearing Romano freak out about the incident was exactly the reaction he could have wanted. “I first noticed it a few weeks ago, but it was just small things. I’ve implemented many changes to how things works and policies. It was only the other day that they started to up the ante by stealing the vial. It hurts to admit it, but I’m out of my depth, I’ve done everything I know of Romano. I need your expertise to catch this Pis ahlaksýz kopek.” He looked at Romano and grinned darkly. “Shall we plot to catch him at your next delivery? Or do you want meet at another point, I know how busy you are."

Far too riled up to continue a discussion about as something as mundane and tame as cleaning and suspicious clients, Lovino slammed a palm down again, practically vibrating in place. "I don't give a shit when we discuss this! I just want to find that bastard as soon as possible, teach him exactly why the fuck you don't steal from Lovino fucking Vargas!" He declared, looking ready to spit fire from his eyes as he spun on his heel and began pacing Adnan's office. "Okay, you tell me exactly what it is they stole, from first item to--Wait, they weren't stealin' your tranqs, have they?! Fucking shit Adnan, did you really not hide those somewhere where they can't be found, or do you have some fucking spy ninja you pissed off?!" Lovino was not pleased, to say the least. He worked hard to get all those things from the government, he didn't want to deal with some snot-nosed punk who thought that he could steal a real professional's stolen contraband, even if it technically didn't belong to him anymore. "Give me some details, Adnan! I need to know this shit if you want me to do any good!"

He leaned back in his chair and sighed. It was time to lay all the cards on the table and he hated to do it. “Here’s the deal. It started off small, some of the club’s alcohol, a packet of bread and what not. I implemented security cameras, bag checks, every standard security procedure you could think of.” Plus his own special one, but he wasn’t going to mention that just yet. It was a last ditch effort that he was going to keep in case someone did have his office bugged somehow and it came down to a fight. He followed Romano’s pacing as he tried to figure out how to word the rest. “I put the cheaper vials I get from you in a safe in my desk behind a locked drawer, and the most expensive in my own personal hiding space that has no visible entrances. Last week one of the cheapest vials went missing and I tore the place apart looking for it, just in case I somehow misplaced it. Once I found that it wasn’t misplaced, but stolen, I trapped the safe. It was a few days ago I found one of the purple vials missing. I can’t figure out how he did it. They were all locked and showed no sign of tampering. Not even the traps when off.” He took a deep breath and seemed to deflate in his seat. “I need your help on this Romano, I have an idea how they are doing it, but I need your help to trap them.”

As Adnan spoke, Lovino slowed his steps and cocked his head to one side, expression going from enraged to more serious as he listened. Slowly he began to piece the story together and to say he was surprised was a complete understatement. He knew that Adnan was a very very secretive, paranoid man and for someone to break into his office not once, but twice...? Despite Lovino's respect for Adnan himself as a paranoid bastard and 'dealer' in his own right, the Italian couldn't help but feel some grudging respect for the thief as well for pulling the wool over the other's eyes. And the fact that said man had to turn to Lovino for help, well that was just an ego-booster right there. Nodding to himself, he meandered back over to the older brunette's desk and perched on the corner of it. "Okay, so you lost two vials, one from your office, and one from that sneaky hidey-hole and is the really dangerous, expensive tranq that can probably permanently put one of us down if we get the whole vial at once?" He asked rhetorically, crossing his arms over his chest and drumming his fingers on his elbow. "Crazy fuckin' bastard, trying to get on your bad side... Anyway, both vials were taken from your office, si? Do any of your workers have access to your office?" As he spoke, Lovino began digging out vials and packets of a bright green variety. They too were sealed with black tape that was quite durable, and you could see the care he used when handling the objects.

Crossing his legs, he lowered his hands down on to his knees and just sat there, watching Romano’s reactions. Hearing Romano repeat the situation back, he nodded and listened to the rest of Romano’s questions. “Evet, they took two vials, and yes, they were both taken from my office. No one but myself can get into my office when I’m not here, and I have an alarm on the door that reports directly to me when someone opens it when I’m not here. None of the alarms sounded and I didn’t even realize that the vials were missing till I went to count them again before the client arrived.” He got a contemplative look on his face and wondered how much he should reveal to Romano. With a sigh, he decided to follow the old adage, in for a penny, in for a pound. “I’m thinking I should show you where I hide the powerful stuff. This way I can explain how I think they are getting in and you can see if I’m missing something in my conclusions.“ He knew he was taking a big risk in showing Romano his power, but he trusted the other well enough to keep this secret also.
