Lukas was standing in front of his store at exactly 4:55. Yes he was five minutes early but it wasn’t like he was eager or anything. He just needed to be punctual or that’s what he told himself anyway. It was better than the alternative that he was mildly desperate for this date, which was how his little brother Emil described it. Of course Lukas retaliated by grounding Emil. Yea he was petty sometimes and that really was the worst he could to Emil.
Lukas glanced at his watch. He hoped he had dressed appropriately enough. He was a wearing light purple-blue dress shirt that had the top few button undone and loose silk black tie and dark jeans. He made sure that he had his readers since he had a hard time reading anything without them, menus included. From the bulge in his pocket he knew he had his wallet as well. He was already to go all that was left was Sadiq to arrive.

It was ten till the meet up time and he was on his way to meeting up with Lukas. He had actually slept the night before and he was feeling a lot better. He didn’t realize how much he needed to sleep until he actually did. He was happy that Lukas agreed to go out with him on this date, he hadn’t had a date in a while, though not many wanted to date him, what with his first impression usually being a bad attitude. His brother, as sweet as he was, finally kicked him out of the house after he tried to change shirts…again. He had on a green silk dress shirt and a pair of black dress pants that fit like a glove. His shirt fit just right as not to be too tight, but it highlighted his muscle tone well. He decided to forgo the tie as he hated wearing them, but he kept the top button two buttons of his shirt undone, showing off just a hint of chest and his hair was gelled into artful spikes. His hands were in his pocket, his right hand around the gift that he had for Lukas…he wasn’t sure if he was supposed to bring something, but he had been hit by the idea, and he couldn’t not do it. He had never done anything of the type before, and didn’t want to ruin it by being too forward. As he turned the corner of the block, he saw Lukas waiting in front of the shop and he smiled. Lukas looked good in that outfit. The shirt would look really good with his eyes, make them pop more than they usually did. He shook his head, now was not the time to be talking about fashion, he didn’t think Lukas would appreciate it. Walking up to him, he smiled. “Don’t you look handsome. I like that shirt on you.” He would find out if the shirt went with his eyes when the other tuned to look at him.

Lukas turned at the sound of Sadiq’s voice. He had to admit green went very well with his skin color, but it honestly didn’t really matter to Lukas he was just relieved he showed up. “Uhhh….thank you. You look nice as well.” Lukas was almost positive it was this man’s personal mission to make him red faced permanently. “I was worried you wouldn’t show up.” Lukas replied half-teasingly. He really was worried that Sadiq would realize he didn’t want to go on a date with stoic like Lukas.
Lukas saw Sadiq had something. Was it for him? If it was it made Lukas feel horribly guilty because he didn’t get anything for Sadiq. He really wasn’t used to dating so sometimes the rules and laws of dating had been forgotten or he didn’t understand them. More often than not it was because he didn’t understand them. Lukas really didn’t want to make a fool of himself in front of Sadiq.

As soon as Lukas turned around, he saw that the shirt did bring out his eyes. It made them seem either a light purple or a blue, depending on the sun. He hadn’t been wearing glasses yesterday, he had to admit, they did look good on Lukas…really good. “Hmm, thank you as well.” He had to smile when Lukas blushed again, he didn’t know what he kept saying to make Lukas blush, but he had to admit that it looked good on the other. “Why were you worried about that?” He smiled and continued. “As you will learn, I am a man of my word. Never worry about me not showing up.”
He moved his hand and squeezed the gift in his pocket. He brought it out in a partially closed fist and had to scratch the back of his head with the free hand. “I hope you don’t mine, but I got you something. The idea hit me last night when I got home and I made it this morning when I got up. It’s nothing fancy, and its alright if you don’t like it…and I’m rambling, here.” He held out his hand and uncurled his fingers. In the palm of his hand sat a small metal tulip. It was possible to see all of the individual petal and it look so real that is was hard to believe that it was made out of material that was usually considered cold.

Lukas shrugged. He had his own insecurities and it wouldn’t be the first time someone stood him up. But he wasn’t going to tell Sadiq that. He didn’t want this to turn out to be a pity date. Mentally shaking off his stupid insecurities he look at what was in Sadiq’s hand. He froze it was…beautiful. Never had he received such a beautiful gift before. He grasped the metal tulip and held it closer for inspection. It was immaculate. Lukas could feel a foreign feeling rise in his chest and looked away not knowing how to deal with it.
Once he got his wayward emotions under control. “Thank you very much Sadiq. This is the most beautiful gift anyone has ever given me.” Lukas said with a tiny soft smile etched on his face. Then he blushed and looked away again, “I’m sorry I didn’t get you anything.” Lukas looked at his watch, “Shall we go before the rush gets bad?”

He eyed Lukas as he shrugged and knew there was something going on, but he wasn’t going to pry, he would just make sure to never break a promise to Lukas… not that he did anyway, but he would be extra cautious careful with him. He blinked and snapped out of his thoughts when the tulip was taken out of his hand. The look on his face made it all worthwhile, not that it was hard to make the little gift, but apparently it meant a lot more to Lukas than he thought it would.
He got a little concerned when he looked away…perhaps he had read him wrong and he didn’t like the gift. A small smile appeared on his face and Sadiq felt relief, Lukas did like it. “I’m glad you like it. It’s just a small metal trinket, it wasn’t that hard to make.” He scratched the back of his head in slight embarrassment, he wasn’t used to reactions like that with his little gift. “Yes, lets get going, we can beat the rush and get really good seats. Lead the way.”

Lukas was entrance by the small metal trinket. It seemed very personable as if there was only one in the world. No one had ever given him anything like this before. Dull blue eyes widened, “You made this? You really didn’t have too.” Now he felt really bad for not getting Sadiq anything.
“Yes lets go.” He took a deep breath and grabbed Sadiq’s hand. Lukas still wasn’t very used to touch but the warmth of Sadiq’s hand was a surprising comfort. He started heading towards the restaurant keeping Sadiq’s hand in a slight grip not wanting to seem clingy. Emil accused him of being that a lot. They finally reached the restaurant. It wasn’t a five-star restaurant more like three but it was Lukas’ favorite when it came to seafood. “I know it doesn’t look like much, but I promise the food here is really good.”

He nodded and a warm small smile came upon his face. “I did, but it really wasn’t that hard, I can show you at some point how I did it.” He shrugged…it wasn’t that big of a deal for him, he could make these things easily.
He felt Lukas grab his hand and keep it in an easy grip. Wrapping his fingers around the others’ he was happy that Lukas made the first move. It was also good in his mind when the one he was interested in made the first move….showed that he had a fighting chance with them. Though it was a bit odd since Lukas’s hand was colder than he was used to. He wondered if Lukas was naturally cold. That would be interesting considering that he was, as his brother said, a walking furnace. Seeing the restaurant, he just smiled and squeezed his hand a bit. “Don’t worry about it, the restaurant looks good. Never judge something by how it looks; I know some hole-in-the-wall places that serve excellent food."

Lukas really liked the trinket add the fact that it was the only one of its kind made it even more special. “Thank you very much. No one has ever done anything like this for me before.”
Sadiq was still really warm, but it was a nice change. He led them inside where they only had to wait a few minutes to be seated. The inside was much nicer than the outside. He took the table that was offered at sat on one side and waited for Sadiq to sit. “I actually found this place when I was looking for work and got a job here.” To this day Lukas was thankful to the manager of the restaurant, if it weren’t for him giving Lukas who was a just teenager a job back then, both Lukas and his little brother Emil would be on the streets starving to this day. Now what did Lukas want to eat?

He smiled warmly at Lukas and nodded. “Your welcome. I don’t see why not, your worth any amount of effort.”
He followed inside to and looked around as they waited to be seated. Once Lukas sat, he sat opposite him and nodded. “Interesting, I’m sure you know everything that’s good to eat here. I’ll just let you chose the meal, I trust your judgment. If you want, you can tell me more about your job here and how you opened up the shop.” He was watching Lukas, he was very interested in his life, plus having him chose his meal gave him more time to observe Lukas and try and learn to read past his stoic mask. Some masks were physical and some were emotional, while he usually wore a physical one, Lukas’ was all emotional and he wanted to try to get past it, to really learn what made the handsome gentleman in front of him tick.

Lukas shrugged and looked away. "I'm really not that special." Lukas clammed on that particular subject. Too many old wounds would be reopened if he were to continue and he was enjoying his time with Sadiq. He fingered the metal tulip in his hands.
Lukas didn't even bother looking at the menu since he knew everything that was on it. "It was when I was around the time I was turning 16, my parents had passed away. Most of mine and my brother's inheritance was taken by the governments to settle some of my parents debts and the small part that remained wasn't accessible until I turned 18. We had enough from what parents kept in the house to keep us going for a few months but it wouldn't last, not with Emil being so sick so often. I was walking near this area when I had a- noticed that a hiring sign was up. I talked to the manager explained my situation and he gave me the job." Lukas ordered a order of hush puppies for the both of them and a larger order of stuffed tilapia for them to share.

color=darkslategray] “To me you are special; you are the first one I’ve actually really connected with beyond business. If that’s not special, I don’t know what is.”[/color] He really wanted to try and catch Lukas’ eyes so he could see how much he meant what he said. Luka really was the first one to ever make him feel more than his usual contempt and slight respect to some of his business associates.
Sadiq just watched Lukas and listened. It was a sad story that made him feel even more impressed with his boyfriend. He reached out and placed his hand on Lukas’ arm and nodded. “Then it’s lucky you pay attention to detail, most people don’t see help wanted signs.”/color] He agreed with Lukas’ choice of food. “Is your brother doing any better?” He wanted to focus more on Lukas than himself…he didn’t think the other would appreciate knowing of his past in the gang, it wasn’t pretty and didn’t show him in a good light. He could only hope that leaving the gang to take care of his brother and run a legit business would help to make up for the harm he had caused. He wasn’t going to think about his other job or affiliations, it wasn’t necessary.
