Lovino is a short man in several ways, short in height, short in temper, and for most people short in patience. He had dark brown hair that curls a bit around his ears and the back of his neck with a dominant curl that swings up from the part on the right side of his forehead. He stands at barely five feet seven inches, his skin is tanned a dark bronze from constant work outside, and while he is not bulky he has a very strong, lean physique, similar to that of an acrobat. He generally wears designer clothes due to the quality of which they are made in the darker spectrum of the rainbow, such as jewel tones and earth colors. When he dresses to impress he always wears a fedora along with some sort of a stylish suit, be it a two piece with a simple waistcoat, a frock coat, or even a zoot-suit. When he’s gardening Lovino always wears an old pair of jeans with a straw hat, ditching both his shoes and his shirt. His hands, despite the heavy lifting he does, are soft to the touch due to the effect having undamaged skin has to his superpower.
Lovino is also quite commonly found wearing sunglasses while outside, even when it's not particularly bright outside. Not only are they a nice touch fashion-wise-when wearing the right brands, of course-but they also protect his eyes when he's using his powers to enhance his sight. They also hide the contracting of his pupils and the way the color might change to better receive light and focus better. While on a job he will be wearing goggles for the same reasons, and also as protection in case someone tries to blind him for one reason or another.

Lovino has the ability to heighten each of his five senses to superhuman levels. When he focuses on his sight, he can see up to a five mile distance from himself with the same clarity that a normal person would have looking at an object twenty feet away, he can magnify items close to himself, to the point that he can see the individual threads in a piece of clothing, and he can see through any physical disguise that isn’t influenced by another superpower. His sense of taste can be influenced to the point that he can tell where the ingredients used in a food dish were grown, what they were grown in, and other specifics not humanly possible. When he enhances his hearing he can hear any sounds within fifty yards and magnify any specific sound or conversation while drowning out all others. Lovino’s sense of smell works similar to his sense of taste, but he can also differentiate people and objects by their individual scents and track them like bloodhound. His touch is the most dangerous to enhance, for not only does he individual threads of clothes, the trace amounts of dust on a surface, and all minute details of any object, it also enhances his feeling of temperature and pain.
This superpower is very good in terms of finding things or people, as well as aiding his ability to hide from any followers. While he can increase his senses to superhuman levels he can only focus on one sense at a time and when he does, his ability to feel the other senses in hampered. The more he focuses on strengthening one sense, the less he feels the others. He also can only focus for up to twenty minutes at a time on a particular sense, even less time for touch, without giving himself a headache and causing pain to the central region of the sense. For example, his eyes hurt if he focuses on sight for too long, and his skin begins to burn and itch if his touch is enhanced for too long. If Romano is not careful it is also easy to overwhelm his senses and send him into a faint. If the shock is strong enough he can be sent into a coma for up to a few days so he tries to avoid using his power for too long without someone around to protect him. One final weakness is how easy it is to tell when he's using a power. If he's focusing too strongly he seems almost in a trance except when enhancing sight or touch, and when he is using his power his eyes begin to change colors. When it's any but sight they just become a very vibrant grass-green, but when Lovino is enhancing his sight, his irises become brighter, highly reflective and light-sensitive, actually appearing to glow in the dark. That side-effect makes it hard to hide if he's using his power while on a job, which is why he wears goggles for work and sunglasses almost all other times.

Personality:
Lovino Vargas is a loud, extremely irritable person, and has been ever since he was a child. When he was younger, he was often slighted in terms of attention from his grandfather in favor of his younger brother, Feliciano Vargas, which was rather painful since he used to be the favorite. Once his grandfather was declared KIA(Killed in Action) everyone constantly focused attention on Feliciano and his hurt, even though Lovino was also distraught over the loss, despite claims of not liking the man. This led to Lovino becoming very withdrawn emotionally, only comfortable with showing his anger since that was all people would respond to. As he grew older this habit became worse until he lost most of his ability to show other emotions, or at least his perception of being more than a pissy bastard. This blatant favoritism through their childhood caused a fission to grow between himself and Feliciano, though it is mostly one-sided. Now they are very estranged from each other, with Lovino easily irritated with every action his brother seems to do. Despite this fact Lovino still cares very much about his brother and is protective of him in his own weird, insulting way. Even if he really doesn't like his brother as a person.
Despite his angry, spitfire nature Lovino is a coward at heart. He doesn’t want to be hurt like he had been after his grandfather was declared dead, so he’s afraid to get close to anyone. Because of this he is very suspicious of others’ intentions, which is why he is Neutral. He doesn’t trust the Government and often complains about their corrupt and ridiculous laws, but he also doesn’t think that the Resistance has any better goals and refuses to ally himself with them either. He instead keeps to himself, and any information he might have on either side he’s willing to sell or hide to the highest bidder. The only time he would keep quiet is for those he cares about, but he isn’t bothered by selling anyone else out if he gets money/immunity for it. Lovino has a slight pain phobia as well due to an accident when he was younger while attempting to hone his touch ability, so any situation where he feels that he might be physically hurt will have him running for his life, leaving anyone but those he truly cares about to fend for themselves. But this fear is easily dwarfed by his hemophobia, also developed during that accident as a child. He associates that situation more with the blood he shed rather than the pain from the injury, since he'd quickly gone into shock and didn't actually feel most of the pain, and thus any sign of freshly-spilled blood is enough to put Lovino into a state of shock and causes severe anxiety attacks if not taken care of quickly. Because of these faults it is hard for him to find people to trust him with the safety of someone else, because not only does he usually not care about the other person he also cares more about himself than almost anyone else. He is selfish, stubborn, pigheaded, and has a hard time adapting to change, which is another reason why he can’t bring himself to support the Resistance. He knows how to work around the Government as it is now, he is afraid that once the Resistance is in charge he would have to completely change his ways and that both terrifies and pisses him off.
While Lovino is angry, suspicious, and hard to like due to his abrasive nature he does care very much about those who manage to win his trust. Despite his supposed dislike for Feliciano he would do almost anything for the boy because, to the older Italian, family is everything. If you are accepted into the family from Lovino’s perspective then you are worth killing for, no questions asked. But he expects the same in return, which is one of the deeper reasons as to why he can’t reconcile with Feliciano. He feels that his care is dismissed and that upsets him greatly.
Likes:
- Tomatoes: This is a given. Due to influence from a boy he had spent a little time with when he was a child, Lovino has fallen in love with tomatoes, and will eat them in any way they can be made, though he prefers them fresh. You insult the tomatoes, you die, verbally. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about that. Tomatoes are the greatest pieces of fruit on the planet, and you cannot go wrong by getting in his good graces with a bundle of them, or a tomato plant.
- Nicotine: Lovino has a bit of a smoking problem, and he’s willing to get his nicotine fix in any of its forms, other than chew. That means cigar, cigarette, hookah, pipe, etc. You name it, he’ll try it if it’ll give him what he wants in the end: A calming nicotine rush that works as a better block to his temper than even a hand over his mouth. It’s rare to not see him with a pack of cigarettes in his pocket or smoking a cigar on a particularly good day.
- Arguments/Insults: One thing that Lovino has come to enjoy throughout life is someone who can give a decent argument. He hates it when people take his insults without standing up for themselves but he hates it even more when the other person(s) puts no imagination into their responses, even if they are only swears back. Therefore if he can find someone willing to verbally duel him he’s always a bit excited, if only for the sake of winning and shoving it in the other person’s face. He also loves hearing creative insults, even if they are aimed at him and he gets pissed, because there’s nothing like broadening one’s vocabulary, si?
- Good-Looking People: If there’s one very noticeable weakness that Lovino has in his raging armor it’s flirting with the more picturesque of society. Be they male or female, if they aren’t immediately irritating Lovino doesn’t mind sending a flirtatious or appreciative word in their direction, even if he knows that he won’t get anything out of it. This suave side to him only lasts so long as the person keeps his interest and doesn’t find some way to piss him off. He’s never emotionally involved when he does this, but as he says “If Dio was gracious enough to grant us with beautiful people amidst the shit we live in, the least we can do is thank them for the respite.”
- Good Food/Cooking: As any good Italian, Lovino loves food, though he’s a bit of a gourmet. Not only does it have to taste good, it has to be presented neatly and also be abundant, none of those little nancy-servings that those ‘snail-sucking French bastards hand out’. He doesn’t have a problem with most cuisines, though he generally avoids English and German food like it contained the Plague. So long as it meets his requirements of looks good, tastes good, and plentiful he’ll eat just about anything. He has a large soft-spot for tomato dishes and sweets though, so he reconciles his issues with German and French food by eating their pastries, though Italian and Spanish meals are the way to go to make this Italian a particularly happy one. He also loves to cook good food and see others he cares about enjoy it, though that’s hard to do when he doesn’t have many people he cares about enough to spend time with them, let alone cook for them.
- Work: Despite his supposedly lazy nature, Lovino absolutely despises sitting still and has a very strong work ethic. He loves being useful in his own way, and the rush of accomplishment he gets from a job well done, especially when it comes to smuggling in those Cuban cigars that he loves so much, puts him in a good enough mood to keep from swearing more than a few ‘bastards’ now and then. He also loves earning money to keep up his admittedly high-end living style and if work gives him money he certainly isn’t complaining.
- Art: Despite the fact that everyone says that he has less artistic ability than his brother Lovino still loves art, though he prefers to sculpt with clay rather than draw or paint. He has no qualms with going to an art museum to examine the works there, and he can forget his normal irritation if he gets drawn into a discussion of a piece, no matter what the piece or the topic is. Art is the only thing where his dislike for other cultures does not apply, he is fond of French Impressionism, German Surrealism, Spanish Cubism, American Pop Art, Italian Renaissance, Greek mosaics, and everything in between.
Dislikes:
- Change: True to his stubborn nature, the idea of having to change either his ways or his schedule for any reason instantly puts Lovino in a bad mood. Be it a botch in an operation plan where he has to improvise or simply having to take a different bus into the shopping area for groceries, any change that he doesn’t want to implement himself is a nuisance and instantly deserves to be either complained about or completely ignored.
- Laziness: Lovino hates sitting still and since he always feels the need to be up and doing something, he can’t stand when others are content with lying around for hours at a time and doing absolutely nothing. It drives him insane.
- Potatoes: When he was little, he had been helping make dinner when he ended up peeling a blighted potato without realizing it. The smell completely overpowered his sense and knocked him out for over two days. He refuses to eat them and hates them with a deadly passion, one powerful enough to influence him into wishing for the extinction of the potato plant.
- Being Touched(Especially his Curl): Due to his superpower, Lovino is extremely sensitive even when he’s not concentrating on his senses. Therefore sudden touches, sounds, etc. startle him very much and he despises that. For some reason his scalp, hair, and especially his curl are almost as sensitive as when he does concentrate on his sense of touch and if anyone tries to touch it without permission Lovino has no qualms with breaking fingers.
- Being Mistaken/Compared to His Brother: Ever since they were children, Lovino often got grief from his parents and other family members and friends for not being as kind or sweet as his brother, as well as less gifted in more artistic pursuits and it hurts him when that happens, as well as pisses him off. He doesn’t get compared to his brother as often now as he used to, considering the fact that he usually avoids spending extended time with his brother, but it still does happen from time to time. It pisses him off even more now than it did back when they were kids, and if it happens expect a headbutt and a fit.
- Cleaning: He finds cleaning a waste of time since he leaves things where he wants them to be and to ‘organize’ his things like others tell him to makes it hard for him to find things and it pisses him off. He’ll do laundry, wash dishes, and maybe dust from time to time but nothing else unless he gets too spastic to sit there and needs something to do. But if someone tells him to clean thing will not end well.
Fatal Flaw:
Lovino has several fatal flaws. His temper is the worst one, because when he is extremely irritated he loses the ability to focus and either his power goes out of control, sending his mind into overdrive and eventually into an overload or he can’t activate it at all. It also clouds his normally smart judgment in situations where harm is a serious possibility and only bad luck on his opponents’ side have helped Lovino escape capture or serious harm as he regained his ability to think coherently. Another flaw is his inability to express himself fluently and eloquently, often causing misunderstandings between himself and others, which makes it hard for people to trust him, or vice versa. It also leads him to bottling up his emotions until the spill out in either tears, rage worse than usual, or the inability to control his powers and again leading to overloads that shut him down for several days. Two more flaws would have to be his phobias, because they are very deep-rooted in his psyche and near impossible for him to ignore, so once one is triggered he is very hard to rely on for anything. He tries to hide these phobias though, because he is afraid of them being used against him if an enemy were to find out, enemy being anyone he doesn't trust his life with.

As Romano's hands skimmed across his body with soft but sure-purpose, Veneziano's nerves suddenly turned to hyper-awareness and he shuddered, feeling blood rush to his face and ears. The way Romano's right hand settled onto his side was gentle, keeping a good hold of him without causing even an ounce of discomfort. Long fingers splayed along the curve of his waist and his back, warming his skin even through his shirt. Then the way his left hand had trailed up to Veneziano's hand, which had been holding his beloved older brother's cheek... Hell, the way Romano touched him in general felt like he was being worshipped. It went beyond appreciative, no one touched him the way Romano did. If he wasn't getting hit for one reason or another--most likely swatted on the head by Germany for being ridiculous--most touched him with faint, feathery touches, as if he were capable of breaking from just being breathed on wrong. And while that was alright in some contexts, in others it was just...demeaning. But Romano.... His rash, over-emotional, sweet, crude, absolutely perfect Romano held him like he was worth touching, worth taking care of but still able to stand on his own. "...It's one of my favorites," he admitted, letting his eyes fall shut as he simply took in the emotions the older brunette was showering on him, the sensations constantly drawing shivers out of his frame. When not one, but three kisses were laid upon his face, Veneziano waited a moment before opening his eyes and looking into vibrant green eyes, only to be completely sucked in. He couldn't form coherent thoughts anymore, he was drowning in the emotion Romano was raining on him. If this is what it felt like to truly be in love than he had been a fool to ever think he loved anyone else, he almost felt a fool for believing he loved Romano before that moment. His emotions, his words, his actions were so inadequate in the face of this insanely intimate exchange of gazes with his brother. Veneziano tossed the word 'love' around so carelessly, even he recognized that. Because of that he knew that anything he said to Romano regarding his feelings would probably mean less to the older boy because they were said so often. But he swore he would never make such a mistake again. Love would only be used for Romano. No one else. This swelling in his heart dwarfed everything else, any other feeling he'd felt for anyone else on the planet, this was what love truly was, this is what he had wanted to share with Romano. And all this passed through Veneziano's mind in an instant. He felt tears well up in his eyes, and he let them fall. They were tears of joy, and his gaze on Romano was so focused, so enraptured that it was obvious that only the taller brunette was on his mind. He beamed at Romano, sliding what he felt was a clumsy hand along Romano's stomach and chest, dancing gently over his collarbone, across the junction of his shoulder and throat before landing on Romano's shoulder properly. He felt Romano unconsciously begin the dance and he allowed himself to be led by the the dark brunette, unable and unwilling to tear his gaze from Romano's. He wanted to speak, to maybe ask Romano what his favorite tango was, but speaking felt so...wrong right now. This was a moment of silence, to be treasured, forever imprinted in Veneziano's mind, and he was afraid that even opening his mouth would break the atmosphere. This moment he wanted to last forever, dancing with his love, with his Romano, feelings flowing freely between them. But he knew it wouldn't and that's what made it so fucking perfect.
